Perak DAP unveils 12 potential candidates

IPOH: Perak DAP has revealed its line-up of potential candidates for the coming general election.

Its chairman Ngeh Koo Ham said 11 were new faces, while another had previously contested in the Canning state seat in the 1999 elections.

They are lawyers Wong Kah Woh, Keshvinder Singh and Yee Seu Kai; engineers Ong Boon Piow and Cheong Chee Khing; general practitioner Dr Chan Tek Mun; and pharmacist Lee Ling Kong.

Others included businessmen Loke Chee Yan and Solaiman Syed Ibrahim; retiree Cheong Peng Choon; and teacher R. Suguna, who is a political secretary to Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran.

Another of Kulasegaran¡¯s political secretary, training consultant V. Sivakumar, who contested the Canning state seat in the 1999 elections, is also one of the candidates.

Most of the potential candidates had worked in their respective constituencies in the last two years, Ngeh said yesterday, adding that the names of other potential candidates would be made known after the Chinese New Year.

However, the finalisation of where the potential candidates would contest depended on the outcome of talks with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leaders, he said.

Revealing that he had met with PKR secretary-general Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Monday, Ngeh said both parties had not come to an agreement on the line-up for Perak.
